Adopt-A-Tree Project! Hamilton Heights Business Alliance


KICK OFF TO A MORE BEAUTIFUL COMMUNITY.

This Sat. April 26, community volunteers are participating in Hamilton Heights Car-Free Earth Day with a cleanup of area tree beds. Let's set the stage for the new Hamilton Heights Adopt-A-Tree project and beautify our sidewalks and your business. Text 646-543-6205 to participate. Supplies will be provided. 

WHAT IS THE ADOPT-A-TREEBED PROJECT? Hamilton Heights Business Alliance kicks off spring with an important project for increasing the beauty of Amsterdam Ave. With funding from its NYC SBS merchant organizing grant, the Alliance will pilot an "ADOPT-A-TREEBED" project with neighborhood businesses. During May-June, up to 20 tree beds in front of local businesses, will receive a free makeover

How to Participate: Participating business owners commit to maintaining their storefront tree bed by removing trash and watering spring and summer flower and plants. "Adopt-A-Treebed" businesses can show off their contributions to the community with an in-ground sign with your BUSINESS NAME AND LOGO. Text Jenn at 646-543-6205 to learn more. 

Eligibility: This Spring 2025, Adopt-A-Treebed project is available to storefront business owners located on Amsterdam Ave between 135th-155th Street and Hamilton Pl between 142nd & 144th St. The number of treebeds is limited due to funding - please respond ASAP! 

1. CLEAN UP TREEBEDS.  Sat. April 26, 2025. 10am-3pm. Hamilton Heights Clean+Green event. Partners: Volunteers, Brotherhood Sister-Sol, Harlem One Stop, The Trash Project , Friends of St. Nicholas Park. We are an official partner of the "NYC Big Spring Clean."  
2. TREEBED REPAIRS: May 2025 
3. TREEBED PLANTINGS: May 2025 During early May, we will plant spring & summer perennials. Flowering annuals will be available for purchase (or you can source) for your customized storefront garden!
4. ADOPT-A-TREE BUSINESS SIGN INSTALLED: May 2025

Hamilton Heights Celebrates Car-Free Earth Day!

April 26, 2025 @ 10:00 am to 6:00 pm at Johnny Hartman Plaza

(Harlem One Stop) 


Join us on Saturday, April 26th from 10:00 am - 6:00 pm in Hamilton Heights-West Harlem for a day of giving back to community for a trash-free environment and engage with neighbors and make new friends.


Our community partners Brother/Sistersol, The Trash Project, and the Hamilton Heights Business Alliance have a full day of volunteerism, learn and play, and trash-free, clean-up activities planned for all to be involved.

Meet us at Johnny Hartman Plaza (Amsterdam and 143rd Street) and West 142nd Street, between Amsterdam and Hamilton Place for family-friendly games, pickle ball, dance class and more.

10:00 am - 12:00  pm The Trash Project leads the charge for trash free Amsterdam Avenue. Volunteers needed to work on Amsterdam Ave (145th - 138) and Hamilton Place (143 - 142) and 142 (between Amsterdam and Hamilton Place).
11:00 am - 4:00 pm Community Composting with Nando, BroSis
1:00 am - 4:00 pm The Zoescope Pop Up entertainment and arts workshop
1:00 pm - 2:00 pm  Dances for a Variable Population for a healthy body and mind
4:00 pm -  5:00 pm Live Music by Bad Mothas
and throughout the day family-friendly activities, giveaways, free pop corn, smoothie bikes, pickle ball and more...
